We are very sad to announce that past Soprano member Sally Kimpton died on 4th October, after enduring a very aggressive brain tumour.
Sally joined Cantata in 2012, and was a committed member of the front row 1st Sopranos for 8 years, until rehearsals ceased in March 2020; due to the Covid Pandemic.
Sally was a keen singer and music was very important to her. She loved singing with Cantata Choir, and relayed to friends how attending rehearsals and participating in concerts made her happy and fulfilled.
Sally felt unable to return to singing at the end of the Pandemic, due to her vulnerability as an asthmatic.
However, she became a passionate and devoted owner to a rescue dog, who had experienced the loss of his various previous owners and thus struggled with separation anxiety.
Sally’s funeral will take place at 11.15am, on Tuesday 7th November, at the Isle of Wight Crematorium.
There will be a reception afterwards, at the Horse and Groom pub, in Ningwood.
Sally will be remembered with great fondness, so if anyone would like to join in celebrating her life, you would be very welcome to attend on Tue 7th.
Our thoughts and best wishes are with Sally’s family and friends.
